A Few Notes About Beautification

Assalaamu'alaykum !

For the fourth collaboration with Mbak Diah (read hers here), we will talk about "beauty". And guess what? We decided to start posting with schedule. We will post a new collaboration topic every two weeks on Monday. I hope I can do it, since I started to force myself to write not long ago 😢

Every female wants to look beautiful. We apply some make-ups, comb our hair, wear a nice dress, spray some perfumes, or any effort to be beautiful.

But, do you know that there are some beautification activities that are forbidden for Muslimah to do? 

From ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: “Allaah has cursed the woman who does tattooes and the one who has them done, the woman plucks eyebrows (al-naamisah), and the one who files her teeth for the purpose of beauty, altering the creation of Allaah.”

(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5931; Muslim 2125)

And another hadeeth:

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “Allah has cursed the women with extensions in her hair and the one who seeks it.”

[Sahih Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

There are four points that mentioned in hadeeth above:

1. Doing tatooes

2. Plucking eyebrows

3. Filing teeth

4. Hair Extentions

As Muslimah, we should not do four activities mentioned earlier, eventhough it's done for our husbands. There are still a lot of things to do to beautify ourselves outside those activities.

Why? Because Allaah will curse us if we do so. Curse means Allaah won't give his mercy and blessings to us anymore, which is a fatal loss for a human being. Na'udzubillah min dzaalik.

Let's beautify ourselves with maintaining our health, our cleanliness, and don't forget to always follow Allaah's rules, so our beauty will glow. Inshaa Allaah.
