Stay at Home, Will You?

Assalaamu'alaykum!

It's been a while since the last time I post something here. I weren't busy, just lazy 😂 It's hard for me to finish a writing, even a post about my favorite topic, game. Maybe I should write it in English. I tried in Bahasa but never satisfied with how it turns out 😅

Anyway, how's life? Are you still locking yourself down in your house? I've been doing that for more than a month. Yaaay! JK. It's quite hard to stay at home even when you're an introvert and love to be alone in your house, unless you're a hikikomori. Corona does change our lifestyle in the past few months.

Indonesia has taken a step to prevent the virus to spread by making people stay at home, mainly students from any level of educations. It started two weeks ago, and extended a week or two. It's not effective, though. Some people still spend much time outside their houses for various reasons. If the parents are asked to work from home, they would have a trip instead. They also go back to their hometown which makes the virus spread even more.

This fact makes me worry. Corona is no joke. It spreads widely, only in a few months. If people still underestimate the effect, I'm afraid it'll be too late to stop. But I won't think too much about it. I will do what I can do, at least for myself, so I won't catch it, or even worse, spreading it.

I've been staying at home for a month, even before the virus spreading here in Indonesia. A month ago, my husband felt sick, so I can't go to my father's as planned. He needed more than a week to recover completely, so I really can't go anywhere in two full weeks (except for grocery shopping near our house). The next week, government release an announcement about staying at home for two weeks. So here I am, sitting obediently at home.

Honestly, I started to feel bored. I always go to mall at least once every month for monthly shopping. And it's been a while since the last time I meet my father and siblings. I miss them. With technology these days, I can meet them virtually through video call, but we're not used to call each other (just texting), so we would just wait patiently until it's safe.

For everyone who gets bored just like me and wanting to go out, please be patient. Keep staying at home, make yourself busy, and pray a lot. I hope this situation won't last long. Aamiin.

Smartphone is Not For Children

Assalaamu'alaykum.

Have you ever seen a 3 years old operate a smartphone really well? They move their fingers on the touchscreen without any difficulties. Maybe you think it's amazing how children nowadays could operate a smartphone even better than yourselves. But do you know that giving smartphone to children is not a good decision?

Children can learn faster and better than adults. They can become very skilled at handling any gadgets if you give them some time.

From dailymail.co.uk, a team of researchers at University of Iowa have discovered that half of toddlers can use a smartphone when they are just one year old, and 90 per cent of them mastering the gadget even before they turn two. Splendid!

My Hijrah Story

Assalaamu'alaykum.

If we are talking about our hijrah story, we will recall about our old days before we are getting closer to Allah, and the progress we were doing to get close to Him.

I am a Moslem from the time I born, just like majority of Indonesian. I thought nothing special in it. The ones struggling to be a Moslem through much thought are the special ones. But now I think that's not the case. To be a Moslem, and to grow up in a Moslem family are blessings from Allah.

Learning English

Assalaamu'alaykum!

I started learning English at school when I was third grader, but I MIGHT know English before I entered elementary school. What makes me presume that I know it even before I learn it at school?

Maybe you will say that my parents taught me. But I know that's not the case. They never taught me any language other than Bahasa. But I remember that I understood some words from games I played, and it's when I was second grader. I'm so certain about this because my little brother was a new-born baby at that time, and it's an unforgettable moment for me. Well, maybe I understood some English words because I seen them often. I played games since I was so tiny, after all.

Aerobic Class

Assalaamu'alaykum.

Recently, I have a routine activity twice a week; aerobic class. I have joined this class since April. We do aerobics in group, instructed by an experienced instructor. The members are married women, but maidens are also welcomed.

This class originally take place in an elementary school hall, and the members are mainly mothers of children who study in that school. So, instead of coming back to their houses after drop their children off, they do some exercises. The session is ended right before pick up time, though.

My To-Do List If I Have a House

Assalaamu'alaykum!

Having a house is one of our wishlist. Currently we are looking for a suitable house to buy, although it's hard to find one. I hope we can find it soon :)

I have a bunch of things I want to do when we have a house.

1. Have a Pet

I always wanted to have a pet. I love taking care of a pet. Unfortunately there are no room for pets in our tiny rented house, so I can only have a virtual one.

What I Did When I Got Insomnia

Assalaamu'alaykum!

For the 12th English Collaborative Blogging, just like two weeks ago, we will write a post based on 4 random words. Thus, there are lots of possible topics we would write based on them. It's challenging. 💪

~~~
I am not a sleepyhead. I can sleep 5 hours a day and it's enough. I rarely take a nap in the afternoon, and when I do, I can still sleep at night without problem, although I can stay up longer than without an afternoon nap.
However, sometimes it's hard to sleep at night. Closing my eyes make me uncomfortable. This is what everyone calls Insomnia.
Insomnia, according to guidelines from a physician group, is difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, even when a person has the chance to do so. People with insomnia can feel dissatisfied with their sleep and usually experience one or more of the following symptoms: fatigue, low energy, difficulty concentrating, mood disturbances, and decreased performance in work or at school. (sleepfoundation.org)
I have insomnia occasionally. I experienced it a night before my wedding, before an exam, or when I feel anxious. The National Sleep Foundation stated that this is an acute insomnia, a brief insomnia that happens because of life circumstances.
My Siblings
Assalaamu'alaykum.
Happy Eid Al-Fitr 1438 H!
I know it's too late to say this, but I hope you had a great Eid Al-Fitr celebration. ^^
Me and Mbak Diah would like to talk about siblings for English Collaborative Blogging this week.
I have three siblings. An older brother; the oldest one, an older sister, and a little brother. I will talk about them one by one :D
My older brother is a freelance programmer. We are 11 years apart. His face structure and skin tone is like our mother, but tall like our father.
Experiencing Two Different Eid al-Fitr Celebrations
Assalaamu'alaykum ^^
How are you? I hope you are having a great day!
It'd been more than 4 months since we post our first English Collaboration. I somehow managed to post on time, although it's hard sometimes. ^^'
We will talk about Eid al-Fitr for our 9th post. It's still a week before Eid, but it's okay, right? Some food and beverage advertisement have been talking about Eid al-Fitr even before Ramadan  😁
Eid al-Fitr is one of Islamic celebrations. We have two celebrations a year, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, and the one coming soon is Eid al-Fitr.
Reunion and Me
Assalaamu'alaykum.
Today is the 10th day of Ramadan. Time sure flew away so fast. I hope I can worshipping Him more. I should ask for His forgiveness too, as Ramadan is month of forgiveness.
For our 8th English Collaborative Blogging, we will talk about reunion. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Reunion—copied from Cambridge Dictionary—means a social event for a group of people who have not seen each other for a long time. To meet our elementary school friends, for example, when they had grown up is surprising. How the tallest girl in your class is now shorter than the shortest boy back then. How the so-called lazy boy who always slept in the class turned into a successful businessman.

Suhoor

Suhoor is important for everyone who wants to fast that day. It gives us energy to do our activities on the fasting day. There is blessing in suhoor, too, as narrated that Anas Ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Eat suhoor, for in suhoor there is blessing." Narrated by al-Bukhari, 1923; Muslim, 1095

Eating suhoor is one of our Prophet's Sunnah. It also differentiates Moslems' fasting, with any other religions' fasting, as they don't eat before fasting.

My 6 Most Favorite Market Munchies

Assalaamu'alaykum!

I always love to talk about foods. I love to eat, that's why. I can't talk like a food critic, though. Guessing ingredients really is not my speciality. ^^'

Indonesian traditional market snacks, or jajanan pasar in Bahasa, is various snacks that—as the name stated—are sold in traditional market, although they are sold at booth too nowadays, make it easier to buy them. Some people called them market munchies.

Some snacks are savoury, and a lot of them are sweet. The ingredients that often used to make them are rice flour, glutinous rice flour, coconut milk and coconut sugar. They make the snacks taste so special. The method of cooking is either steamed, baked, or fried.

How I am Dealing With My Envy

Assalaamu'alaykum ^^

Have you ever feel envy when you see a married couple doing something that you think it's romantic?

A man put a helmet for his wife, having a candle-light dinner, an husband giving a heart-shaped chocolate and a bucket of flowers for his wife, traveling together, you name it.

My Favorite Subjects at School

Assalaamu'alaykum ^^

I got some messages on WhatsApp a week ago. One of them was interesting.

It was a message from the author of damarojat.com on a WhatsApp group I joined. She asked if anyone would collaborate with her to write blogposts in English.

I were excited. I want to challenge myself, so I sent some private messages to her, saying that I am interested.

Long story short, we both agreed with the conditions. And, this is it, our first collaboration. :)
